We're going to the zoo, zoo, zoo
How 'bout you, you you?" (aw, I miss Raffi )
I had a fun opportunity last week that kind of surprised me - my 21 year old daughter went to the zoo with her friends, and she asked me to pack her a bento. I sheepishly asked her if she would mind if I made it "zoo themed" 🙂 and she didn't mind a bit! I ended up making some little snack bentos for her and all her friends in my favorite Fit&Fresh containers:
I packed strawberries topped with an elephant made of cantaloupe, and broccoli, carrots, and sugar snap peas topped with a tiger made from cheddar cheese. It was fun to get out my zoo cutters again - I haven't used them in a long time! I got them from Williams-Sonoma years ago, but they don't seem to sell them any more 🙁
* Update - I found a similar set at Bento USA for $8.99. They look very similar to mine ( click on the photo):
These Fit & Fresh containers are among my favorites because each one has its own little ice pack that snaps into the lid:
Isn't that genius? And my daughter put all 4 of them in her purse and went off with her friends. She said the snacks were still nice and chilled by lunch time, and the cold fruit was especially refreshing on a hot summer day. I use these containers all the time - I toss one or two in my Cooler Purse when I run errands. They really are fantastic at keeping a little snack cold for several hours!
Here's a great place to buy some of the containers that have their own mini ice packs (below) or you can go to their website - shop.fit-fresh.com
