March of 2020 has been crazy for all of us. No one could have predicted this global pandemic. All around the world, people have had to change their plans. I for one, never EVER thought I'd be writing a post this month about using pantry staples and emergency food supplies.
But the more uncertain things are outside of our homes right now, the more we need some good routines to restore peace inside our home. And home cooked meals are one of those wholesome rituals that can calm us, comfort us, and nourish us.
So I created a collection of my best recipes here at Beneficial Bento that fit these criteria:
- Use (mostly) shelf stable ingredients that you might have in your pantry
- Are easy to make
- Are the kind of foods that fill you up, and feed your soul
I've divided the recipes into 4 categories:
- Breakfasts
- Main dishes
- Sides
- Desserts
So far I have just over a dozen recipes on this list (which I wanted to put together as fast as possible). But I plan to add to this list as time allows. I hope this will be a helpful resource for now. Many of these recipe suit food allergies as well - I have some in this collection that are dairy free, gluten free, and egg free.

Salad - How to Keep it Fresh All Week **I know this is not made from pantry staples, but if you're lucky enough to get some salad greens it's SO worth it to learn how to store it right, so you can eat fresh salad throughout the week.
A fresh green salad and a homemade Salad Bar will go a long way toward pulling together a great meal. It even makes take out food just a little more "homey" which is just what we're looking for these days.
